THE CREWS BEHIND THE CASTS

Huntley High School

Huntley High School

Huntley High School

Huntley High School’s Bass Fishing Team, representing the “Red Raiders” of Huntley, IL, has carved out a reputation as one of Northern Illinois’s solid competitive programs. The team competes in the Fox Valley Conference, a conference known for high athletic and extracurricular standards, and has regularly qualified for IHSA Sectionals and beyond

One of Huntley’s standout performances occurred in the 2020–21 IHSA Sectional, where their #2 boat set a sectional record with a five-fish weight of 13 lb 8 oz, and angler Lucas Wojnicki claimed Big Bass with a 3 lb 3.2 oz catch.

In the 2016 Unified Division State Finals at Carlyle Lake, Huntley earned a 3rd–place team finish, during the inaugural Unified Bass Fishing State Series designed to include Special Olympics athletes

Across competitive seasons, Huntley anglers have shown consistency and sportsmanship while qualifying for state-level competition in both standard and unified divisions. Their success reflects the school’s broader commitment to inclusive athletics and competitive excellence. We’re proud to support a program that brings dedication, diversity, and real on-the-water results to the world of high school fishing.

In 2025, the team earned a strong 3rd place finish in the NLCC Conference, followed by a 6th place finish at Regionals, and a solid 9th place showing at Sectionals, demonstrating consistent success throughout the postseason.

On top of their team accomplishments, Wauconda made a huge impact in the Unified Division, taking home both 1st place and runner-up honors in 2025, after already securing 1st place in the division in 2024. Their dedication to inclusion, development, and competitive success makes them a standout program on and off the water.

We’re proud to work with a team that embodies the spirit of growth, grit, and sportsmanship, the very things Double Up Tackle stands for.

Built for Action - Trusted by These Anglers

Ben Chesney

Ben is a driven and accomplished angler with an impressive tournament experience. After securing 2nd place at Kentucky Lake, he qualified for both the Major League Fishing (MLF) Nationals and the World Finals, where he placed 53rd out of 383 boats. Formerly the team captain of the Burlington Central High School Bass Fishing Team, Ben now represents the University of Pikeville on their collegiate fishing team.

With years of competitive experience and countless tournaments under his belt, Ben brings intensity, skill, and leadership to every event. He’s passionate about the sport, and it shows in both his preparation and performance on the water.

Ben relies on Double Up Tackle because of the confidence it gives him in critical moments. Whether he’s flipping heavy cover or dragging a finesse bait across structure, he knows Double Up plastics will hold up, cast after cast, fish after fish. For Ben, it’s not just about fishing, it’s about having gear he can depend on when every bite counts.

Carson Mathieu

Carson is a dedicated high school angler making waves in the competitive bass fishing world. As a senior at South Elgin High School, he currently fishes in three different tournament trails, with an impressive record of 11 total wins and 25 top 5 finishes. He also qualified for the IHSA Sectionals and is preparing to take the next step as a future college angler.

Known for his focus, finesse, and drive to improve, Carson has been fishing his whole life and has become a dependable competitor both individually and as part of a team. His experience and instincts on the water give him an edge in all conditions.

Carson chooses Double Up Tackle for one key reason, durability. After years of testing soft plastics that couldn’t hold up to aggressive bites or repeated use, he found that Double Up’s baits offer the durability and performance he needs to stay focused and efficient during tournaments. When it’s time to compete, Carson trusts Double Up to get the job done.
